Can you see it? Yes, it's Cogne. An extraordinary place, crowned by very high peaks, but with a flat and welcoming settlement. Look around, isn't it beautiful and scenic? And over there? From this natural balcony, if you sharpen your eyes, you can even catch a glimpse of Mont Blanc on the horizon. And now look down.
At your feet, the Meadows of Sant'Orso. Extraordinary things happen there: the Meadows host cultural and sporting events, and in September, the incredible cow fights. Now, move your gaze towards the village. The real strength of this place is the welcoming and inspired people who live there all year round. Among those streets, you will find refreshments in excellent restaurants where you can get in touch with another typical aspect of these places: the cuisine. Tasty traditional dishes and experiments that combine classic and modern styles are ready to wrap you up. Bistro and shops are waiting for you to reward you for the hard work of the climb.
And then the history. Cogne is steeped in history and beauty. When you go down to the village, do not forget to visit some of the places that have passed through the ages and come down to us: the iron fountain, the clock house, or the beautiful sculpture of Saint Barbe, made by the miners. Cogne also has a sound that is all its own. Patois, the local dialect here, has a nuance that makes it unique in the Aosta Valley.
A recognizable and special sound, a bit like the music you might encounter in the streets of the villages. Look for the Lou Tintamaro folk group - you won't regret it.
