Turn your gaze to the sky and get ready on the back of the Golden Eagle, the master of the mountains! This elegant bird of prey, which has always been a symbol of great power, was defined by Aristotle as "among all birds, the only one to be divine."
But is it a clever predator or a loving mother? Absolutely both! Little safeguarded in the past, today it is studied and protected everywhere. The continuous monitoring of the more than 20 pairs present in the park allows for the important collection of data and precise scientific processing, as well as an opportunity for wonderful birdwatching! Think that male and female choose one another in flight performing a spectacular courtship ritual, and once the couple is formed, the eagles remain together for life.
A 2-m wingspan and robust muscles are the secrets of the eagle’s extraordinary flying ability. It can dive over 200 km/h, performing impressive aerial stunts.
The same environments are frequented by the bearded Vulture, which hardly goes unnoticed with its almost 3-meter wingspan! Extinct at the beginning of the 20th century, in the 1980s, it was reintroduced throughout the Alps thanks to an international project. The bearded vulture plays a fundamental ecological role because it CIRCLES in search of animal carcasses, drops the bones on the rocky walls, the bones break, and then it feeds on the marrow which it loves! Think about how much Carbon, Calcium, Magnesium, and other important elements return to the Alpine soils in a short time! Thank you, Bearded Vulture!
