The Glade of Legends is a historical tourist route that connects the village of Crétaz to that of Epinel. It offers the opportunity to explore legendary places along a one-kilometer path through wooded areas that open into a vast glade.
The route allows everyone the opportunity to get to know some legendary places or to admire them even from afar and discover the points where various stories, legends, and facts were set. The natural setting of an evocative environment enhances this curious journey to discover the stories of the past.
From the picturesque votive aedicula of Crétaz to the austere fortified house of Tarambel in Epinel, the route, which crosses a picturesque natural basin, offers the opportunity to meet or observe from afar those sites that evoke the story of the past of the local community. From disappeared villages to legends (most characterized by a kernel of truth), among which the story of the 'derbé' (the walking tree) stands out; that of the cows that fled from the high pastures to go down to the valley where their owners then founded the current villages; that of the spirits, of the curious characters, of the faith, of the habits and customs of the region; and that of the events that contributed to enriching the casket of the tradition of Cogne.
