I'm a bearded vulture from Valnontey. I fly between steep slopes and see the wonder of the glaciers that have shaped the mountains over time. However, I noticed that the environment has changed a lot. You can also notice it with the timelapse of my favorite glacier, La Tribulazione Glacier of the Gran Paradiso massif. Over the past 30 years, the Park's glaciers have retreated by an average of 14 m per year! How do I know? I follow the results of the glaciological campaign and you can also follow them at the link in the description *. Since 1993, the Gran Paradiso Park Rangers, in collaboration with the Italian Glaciological Committee, have monitored 56 glaciers, detecting variations in thickness and so-called front variations, that is, the retreat of the glacier with respect to fixed points, through direct measurements on the glacier surface or with photo comparisons.\r\nThe perception that something was changing was already strong in the 1990s: less and less snowy winters and warmer summers accelerated the glacial retreat, resulting in spectacular formations from the landscape point of view, but a symptom of great suffering of the glacial bodies. Notice that the Grand Etr\u00e9t, another important glacier of the Gran Paradiso massif, has also lost almost 60% of its surface in 23 years! In short, the glaciers are melting and, unfortunately, we will have to get used to seeing very different mountains."},"titolo-paragrafo-2":{"type":"textfield","raw":""},"testo-paragrafo-2":{"type":"wysiwyg","raw":""},"titolo-paragrafo-3":{"type":"textfield","raw":""},"testo-paragrafo-3":{"type":"wysiwyg","raw":""}},"generalita":{"classificazione":{"type":"select","raw":""},"titolo":{"type":"textfield","raw":""},"sottotitolo":{"type":"textfield","raw":""},"note":{"type":"wysiwyg","raw":""},"marchi":{"type":"image","raw":[""],"repeatable":[{"raw":""}]},"alert":{"type":"wysiwyg","raw":""}}},"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.visitcogne.it\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/guida-virtuale\/13483","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.visitcogne.it\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/guida-virtuale"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.visitcogne.it\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/guida-virtuale"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.visitcogne.it\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/14813"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.visitcogne.it\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=13483"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"categoria-guide-virtuali","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.visitcogne.it\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categoria-guide-virtuali?post=13483"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
